“That your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations” (Psalm 67:2, ESV).
It is our passion at Red Bridge Baptist Church to take up Jesus’ cross, obeying His Great Commission whatever the cost—praying for missionaries, giving to faith promise missions, and going across the street or across the sea.
The missions committee exists to keep before RBBC members the vision of God’s glory in world evangelism through supporting and expanding the missions team God has called. One of the main responsibilities of the committee is to organize and oversee the annual world missions conference. We work with Pastor Borden in securing a keynote speaker and a theme. Then we coordinate with our missions team to receive updates, whether in person or via video.
Because God is glorified in sinners hearing and turning to the Gospel, the missions committee takes kingdom work seriously. We do not want to become stagnant. We are praying for God to clarify His vision for what He wants to do through our committee and through RBBC. We desire to support other world missionaries, so that the “gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations” (Matthew 24:14b, ESV). We desire to step out in faith.
Each member of RBBC’s mission team is assigned a liaison with a member of the missions committee. The members of the committee communicate with our missionaries and share prayer requests, updates, or needs with the committee. This information is also posted on the various bulletin boards on display throughout the church. These boards are updated as we receive new information and are rotated twice a year.
RBBC focuses on missions not only because of a love for the lost but chiefly because the sinner’s salvation through Gospel preaching glorifies God and highlights Christ’s worthiness, as witnessed by John in heaven: “And they sang a new song, saying,
'Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation'” (Revelation 5:9, ESV).
