What We Believe
We
believe in the Holy Scriptures, accepting fully
the writings of the Old and New Testaments as the
very Word of God, verbally inspired in all
parts, serving as our infallible and authoritative
rule of faith and practice.
We
believe there is one God co-eternal and co-existent
in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We
believe in the deity of Christ; His virgin
birth; His shed blood for the atonement of sin; His
bodily resurrection; and His ascension into heaven,
there to be our Intercessor.
We
believe the Holy Spirit convicts people of sin,
making them children of God by the new birth,
thereby assuring them of Heaven. He enables
Christians to live a godly life by his indwelling
and filling. We also believe the Holy Spirit gives
spiritual gifts at salvation to all His people for
the work of the ministry. Certain gifts have died
out—ceased to exist because they were foundational/
authenticating gifts during the establishment of the
church. These are the gifts of apostles, healing,
miracles, tongues, and the interpretation of
tongues.
We
believe in salvation by grace through faith in the
Lord Jesus Christ; this being wholly the work of
God. We believe repentance and faith are
inseparable experiences of grace, resulting in all
believers possessing the gift of eternal life, a
perfect righteousness, sonship in the family of God,
and the guarantee of never perishing.
This work
of repentance and faith generates holiness and will
be distinct from lifestyles which practice such sins
as: fornication, adultery, homosexuality,
drunkenness, idolatry, reviling, thievery,
covetousness, and extortion. We believe that Christ
calls us to separated living in this world,
demonstrating His Lordship in our lives. Therefore,
any involvement in alcoholic beverages, recreational
drugs, or gambling in any form, including lotteries,
is wrong.
We
believe in the existence of Satan, the deceiver and
god of this present world; that he was defeated and
judged at the cross; and therefore, his final doom
is certain.
We
believe in the second coming of Christ. His return
from Heaven will be personal, visible, and
glorious. The time of His return is unrevealed but
always imminent.
We
believe in the spiritual authority of the pastor of
our church; that he is under God’s leadership to
guide, teach, and instruct us to fulfill the purpose
of Christ through His church; that he must give an
account of God for leading; that God will oversee
him in leading His people; that we are to give him
respect, honor and follow his leadership to enable
him to serve us in joy. We believe that the
ordination of women into the ministry is unbiblical.
We
believe in the priesthood of all believers, that
Christ is our Great High Priest, and through Him
every born-again person has direct access into God’s
presence without the need of a human priest; that
the believer has the right and responsibility to
personally study and interpret the Scriptures guided
by the Holy Spirit.
We
believe that a New Testament Church is an organized
body of born-again believers practicing the
scriptural ordinance of baptism by immersion and the
Lord’s Supper, and are actively engaged in
fulfilling the Great Commission.
